Two Schools of Thought

So the HBO temple thing has brought interesting reactions from the peanut gallery. One school of thought is that any publicity is good publicity.
Another is that because the church as a whole didn't do anything, we shouldn't.
And the last is total disinterest.

I agree that we shouldn't picket HBO or send them anonymous hate mail but to log a well-formed logical response to the FCC is valuable.

The biggest problem in the debate is that for many people there is nothing sacred in their lives. Some still hold physical intimacy sacred, but that debate has been so trampled on the public airways that any discussion on that point seems mute.

Big Love aired, their ratings were probably stupendous and life moves on, but it certainly makes me feel as though we are getting closer and closer to the end of the world when such desecration is permitted.

I agree with you that it feels as if we are getting close to the end. I have to tell you though it actually hurt to know that this was going to happen. I wrote to HBO and tastefully explained why what they were doing was wrong. It of course did no good. But then I decided that the least I could do is not make it a big controversy and drum it up so that millions of people would watch. I have to say that I feel a little hollow and a profound sadness. I can imagine this is a small portion of what our Heavenly Father must feel. I can't imagine what things will be like for that ex-member who assisted in all of this. Does he or she know the profound sadness and violation some of us have endured because of their actions? I believe that knowledge will be part of their punishment.

It was all just for ratings. Talk about selling your soul . . .
